Two hours of familiar songs and music from the Golden Days of Hollywood, the best of Broadway, vintage jazz, big band swing, and --always-- the best singers, from Bing Crosby to Frank Sinatra. You'll hear regularly from some of today's younger singers like Diana Krall and Janet Seidel who are keeping the old standard songs alive. Most programs have a theme - past ones have included songs about the weather (Isn't This a Lovely Day, Stormy Weather), dreams (I'll See You in My Dreams, Dream a Little Dream of Me) and a musical journey around America (from Chicago, along Route 66, through Oklahoma! with Georgia on My Mind, ending up in Manhattan). John has also presented radio biographies of some of the great songwriters including Cole Porter, Irving Berlin and Jerome Kern, as well as specials on Bing Crosby, Fred Astaire, Nat King Cole and Fats Waller...
